The wines from Southern France are among the best wine values on the market today. Most are tasty blends of Syrah, Grenache, Mourvedre and are produced in both rustic and modern styles. Many of the wines reviewed here are from the portfolio of Robert Kacher Selections. Over the past 20 years Robert “Bobby” Kacher has played a leading role in bringing wines of high quality and value from France to the American consumer. He practices a hands on approach in working with winemakers and growers and championing reducing yields, green harvesting, and hand picking of fruit at the point of physiological ripeness. The tasting also covers selections from some of the regions’ top producers such as Jean Luc Colombo, Domaines Barons Rothschild Lafite, and Grande Veneur.
