New French Wine Releases from Robert Kacher
When Robert (Bobby) Kacher started importing wines from France in 1984 he unknowingly paved the way for an entire tribe of boutique wine importers. He lived in France six months of the year and discovered and continues to work with some of the best and best value producers from the Rhone, the Southwest, Burgundy, and Champagne. He sets high standards—both in the vineyard and the winery—which have paid off for the vintners he represents. Today Bobby imports 150 thousand cases a year—including wines from France, Argentina, Portugal, and South Africa—and has received numerous accolades from the wine press. The denizen of wine writers, Robert Parker, has called Bobby “one of the 20 most influential wine personalities of the past 20 years.” And the French Government has awarded him the Chevalier de l’Ordre du Mérite Agricole. We recently sat down with him to taste through a significant portion of the French portfolio of Robert Kacher Selections. Our tasting notes and ratings follow:
